Post-Brexit: Magnetic MRO relocated UK subsidiary to Estonia
Citing changes in the post-Brexit United Kingdom, whilst at the same time consolidating its aircraft interiors business under one roof, Magnetic MRO has decided to relocate the production facility of MAC Aero Interiors, its UK-based subsidiary, to Tallinn, Estonia. The new facility was officially opened on March 4, 2020.
“From the year 2020, the big step ahead was taken in our development strategy, resulting in the whole interior business being consolidated under the name of MAC Aero Interiors. This includes production that has been relocated from the UK as well as the expansion of DOA services and growth of operating interior shop in Tallinn. Our production team has streamlined facility processes, while sales team continue bringing new opportunities and deals that feed our interior business,” told Inga Duglas, Commercial Director at Magnetic MRO.
“We believe that our customers will benefit from the relocated facility of production, due to efficiency and remaining with production within European Union, we shall guarantee continuous supply after Brexit,” said Marko Männiste, Managing Director at MAC Aero Interiors.
Background:
MAC Aero Interiors, which has over 50 years of experience in aircraft interior solutions, was acquired by Magnetic MRO in 2016. With its history dating back to 1962, MAC Aero Interiors has been an acknowledged expert in the retrofitting and refurbishment of lavatories, galleys, seating, partitions, stowage lockers, monuments and VIP interiors for a wide range of commercial aircraft.
Magnetic MRO, established in 1995 and formerly known as Air Maintenance Estonia, was acquired by China’s Guangzhou Hangxin Aviation Technology in 2018. That has been the largest ever FDI to Estonian economy from China. Building on its Chinese connections, MAC Aero Interiors entered the Chinese aircraft cabin interiors market with the establishment of MAC Sichuan, a joint venture with Benniao Aviation in January 2019. New company provides cabin technical care support to aircraft owners and operators in China.
