Get to know our people: Neethu Xavier Akkara

Neethu Xavier Akkara is an Avionics Lecturer at Estonian Aviation Academy. She shares some insights about working at the Academy, her career, and advice to youngsters.

  • How long have you worked in the Estonian Aviation Academy?

It has been one year and eight months since I started (on March 18th 2020).

  • How did you find Estonian Aviation Academy for yourself and what is your previous job experience?

I was looking for a job online when my dad found Estonian Aviation Academy having a vacancy for the position of Avionics lecturer and informed me. I applied for the position immediately and after sending in my paper work and the interview process I was selected.

My very first job experience couldn’t have been more perfect. As a foreigner, the warmth and acceptance extended by both the students and the staff has been beyond limits. I am so glad to be working with colleagues who are power houses of knowledge and experience. Also, the work environment is commendable as the academy provides the state-of-the-art infrastructure starting from the most tech-savvy lecture halls to the functional Hangar premises. To put that in a nutshell, it has been as pleasant as a perfect summer day.

  • What is the most exciting part of your current job?

The very fact that the future aviation industry is crafted in my class. Every eager student sitting in my class today is the technician, controller, engineer and pilot of the days to come and it’s a blessing that I get to take part in the most crucial phase of it: ‘Imparting Knowledge’.

  • What suggestions would you give to your 18-year-old self today?

There is no superior wealth than knowledge and your own well-being.
